These are exciting days at Faith Baptist Church! Everywhere I look, I see the fingerprints of God on our ministry. People are being saved, relationships are being healed, there is a growing hunger and desire for God’s Word, and a growing passion to reach our world with the gospel of Christ.
It is also exciting every week to see so many new faces. God is definitely at work and is up to something big. I am constantly reminded of Jesus’ words in Luke 12:48, “to whom much is given, from him much is required” and the call to be good stewards of the blessings of God. It is in light of this calling that I am excited to share with you a challenge called Faith Moving Forward.
Faith Moving Forward is a challenge for every member and regular attendee to participate in three major areas of ministry priority. These three areas of priority are as follows:
- A renewed passion for knowing Christ
- A focused strategy to reach Jefferson County and beyond with the gospel of Christ
- A sacrificial commitment to retiring our debt, freeing us for future expansion
Over the next several weeks, you will be hearing and seeing much information about the details of what God is leading us to do in each of the three areas of this challenge.
I want to ask you to do two things in preparation for what God wants to do during the next few weeks and months. First is to Pray. Ask God to give you an open heart and mind in order that you might hear clearly what it is He would have you to do. Also pray for your leaders, as we seek to hear clearly from God and that we would lead with courageous faith. Second is Participate. There are several key dates listed below that you need to make every effort to be present in order to put yourself in position to hear from God.
- February 21 - Kickoff Sunday. I will be sharing God’s vision for Faith Moving Forward.
- February 28, March 7 - Information lunches (both Sundays) and breakfast (March 7 only). These are opportunities for you to attend one and to ask questions, specifically related to Debt Retirement.
- March 14 - Covenant Sunday. Every person will be encouraged to turn in their Covenant Card as well as bring a special Faith Moving Forward offering.
Let me close with a reminder from our Sunday morning study in Joshua.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
I love being your pastor and I am excited to see what God is going to do as we step out in courageous faith.
