To begin with, it is just that: a "Tender Loving Care" ministry.
Traditionally you might see this as a widow's ministry and that is certainly our primary focus. To serve those in our church body that have suffered the loss of a loved one and find themselves in need.
Care of our widowed church members is a scriptural mandate. But even more we see it as God's way of opening doors to server his people and to insure that nobody suffers the loss of a companion in silence, loneliness and uncertainty. It is our declaration that we will honor God's word and will answer His call to serve. In that spirit we are "People, serving people, serving Christ."
Service in the TLC ministry might involve:
- Helping folks getting thigs done around the house
- light fix-ups
- moving things
- yard work
- Transportation
- getting to and from appointments
- the store
- errand runs
- Companionship
- reading newspapers, books, letters
- just having someone to talk to when they find their lives have een drastically changed by a loss
- Professional advice and referral
- Administrative skills
- help us organize a way to coordinate the needs withthe service
We need folks that have a heart to serve those who need to be served. If yu have been asking God to open a door of opportunity to servce Him or to be more involved, this may be that open door. I encourage each of you to pray about your rool and whether you can help us with this wonderful opportunity to serve God's people. If the Lord leads you to serve in this ministry, please complete one of the sign up sheets and leave it in the collection box, in the lobby of the church. You will be contacted as soon as possible to talk about needs you can fill.
