Neighborhood Hangouts
Disciplemaking is intentionally entering into someone’s life to help them know and follow Jesus (evangelism) and to teach them to obey His commands (discipleship).
Our strategy for engaging our local communities with the gospel is the Neighborhood Hangouts initiative. Our local neighborhoods are a mix of people from all around the world: people born and raised in Tennessee, people from every state, and people from the nations, and we can “make disciples of all nations” by locally sharing the gospel with our neighborhoods and people in our communities. Take a look at these two truths that Jesus gave us:
In Matthew 22:36 Jesus was approached by an expert in the law and was asked, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He answered with 2 simple commands. Jesus told us, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. And the second is like it: love your neighbor as yourself.”
Our vision is to have Life Groups and Discipleship Groups in every neighborhood where a Faith member lives; Neighborhood Hangouts are a great first step for you to begin “Gospel relationships” with your neighbors!
Getting StartedStep 1: Share your neighborhood hangout details with Pastor Michael ([email protected]) and connect with other Faith members in your neighborhood/area.
Step 2: Make a plan for your hangout (Will you have yard games, bbq, or just hang out in lawn chairs?)
Step 3: Connect with your neighbors in your community and invite them.
Step 4: Execute your Neighborhood Hangout and start gospel conversations.
Step 5: Aim for having long-lasting, genuine relationships with your neighbors. This is just the beginning.
